Over the years, Montblanc expanded its product range to include leather goods, perfumes and luxury watches by 1997. The international mindset of its founders continues to be a strong legacy of the brand to this day: writing instruments are completed in Hamburg, leather goods in Florence and watches in Switzerland.

Montblanc watches have earned a respectable place on the auction market, especially in recent years. Although they do not achieve the very high prices of other luxury watch brands yet, some complicated and limited edition models sell for tens of thousands, confirming their place in the world of haute horlogerie. In fact, the record for a Montblanc watch was set earlier this year, with a MONTBLANC Collection Villeret 1858 "Grand Tourbillon Heures Mysterieuses" auctioned for €84,000 (about $91,308) at Eppli.
