Traveling from your sofa is possible! Thanks to a collaboration with Harvard University and VRTEEK, the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Monuments has digitalized an immersive visit to the tomb of Ramses VI, which dates to 3,000 BC.
Fifth Pharaoh of the Twentieth Dynasty, Ramses VI reigned over Ancient Egypt from 1145 to 1137 BC. A tomb worthy of his power was dedicated to him in the main path of the Valley of the Kings, on the shore west of the Nile opposite Luxor. This historic place of breathtaking beauty, normally flooded with tourists, can now be visited in just a few clicks and in the peace of your own home.

The tour begins at the beginning of a long corridor decorated with hieroglyphs and engravings. At each step, countless funeral inscriptions that depict the king passing into the afterlife appear on the walls. The long corridor leads to the famous funeral room, a magnificent cavern where the sarcophagus rests.
The decorations of Egyptian tombs varied according to the wealth of the monarch. Some tombs are limited to the illustrations of a single religious book, while others present very elaborate syntheses of five or six different compositions. The latter is the case for Ramses VI, a burial space originally built for his nephew and predecessor Ramses V, which he took over and made grander for himself.
