From April 25-27, GAA Classic Cars in Greensboro, North Carolina is hosting their upcoming auction with nearly 500 cars on offer. Many with no reserve, there's a wide range of cars available from classic models to contemporary rides. However, there's a particularly rich collection of antique cars from the 1920s and 1930s that are excellent investments and historic treasures. Antique cars are considered cars produced before 1939 (the start of World War II).
Here are six antique cars not to miss:
Cadillac is the fourth oldest auto company in the world, founded in 1902 in Detroit, Michigan. Since its early days, it has been known for its luxurious vehicles and was the first manufacturer to develop an electrical system in 1912 and the first mass-produced V8 engine in 1915. This Cadillac Type 59 from 1921 was an improved version of the first from 1915 with an exhaust-heated intake header and was styled as a four-passenger coupe. This 103-year-old wonder is offered with no reserve and has been fully restored.
Also offered with no reserve is this 1924 Cadillac Opera with a V8 engine that was rebuilt in 2009. Celebrating its 100th birthday this year, this sporty antique also boasts a 3 speed manual transmission and working lights.
This 1926 Cadillac Series 314 hails from the Merrick Auto Museum and has been fully restored. The instrument panel is a lesson in ornamentation with four semicircular gauges in the middle, flanked by a drum speedometer on the left and a Waltham clock on the right. The entire ensemble is decorated with intricate filigrees. This design was the inspiration for the 1949 Coupe de Ville, one of the company's most famous and enduring models.
The early 1930s are considered by many to be the top antique Cadillacs. The models from 1932, such as this 355 B Standard Sedan, were characterized by soft, more rounded body lines, and slightly smaller dimensions. In fact, this five-passenger sedan retains its original sheet metal. It has a rebuilt engine and electric fuel pump and is eligible for all Classic Car Club of America events.
Also from the 1930s is this 1931 Desoto Roadster. The eye-catching red car also boasts a red leather interior, as well as a straight 6 flathead engine and 3 speed manual transmission. Don't miss this opportunity to own this unique car for a great price as it comes to auction with no reserve.
From Buick comes this 1925 25S Sport Touring, a handsome grey on red model with a convertible roof. Buick's new cars at the time introduced four-wheel brakes, larger six-cylinder engines, courtesy of a quarter-inch longer stroke, with higher compression and better breathing. The cars were bigger on the outside, roomier inside, and had stronger frames and axles. Styling, too, was updated, with the radiator shell given a contoured “upper lip” and fenders more highly crowned.
