On February 22-24, GAA Classic Cars is hosting their upcoming auction with nearly 700 classic and contemporary cars on offer. With Fords, Chevrolets, Cadillacs, Pontiacs, GMCs and much more, this sale has something for every car collector. Here are six unique highlights not to miss:
This iconic 1954 Chevrolet Corvette was 1 of 300 finished in the Pennant Blue shade and is complemented by a beige interior. It was in a single-owner collection for 47 years and restored completely in 2018 with a rebuild of the engine, transmission and rear differential and restored original side curtains.
Formerly owned by Jimmy Buffett, this 1963 Ford Falcon Sprint was customized by the musician. He purchased the car in 2002 and added a roll bar so he could carry his surf boards to the beach. He also added a 4-barrel intake and Holley Carburetor to increase the speed. His personal Australian sheepskin seat covers are still in the trunk, as well as his custom sound system. Also included in the sale is a Buffett-signed Fender Strat Squier guitar and a surf board.
Comprehensively restored, this 1968 Ford Mustang Lightweight was one of just 50. It was delivered to Tasca Ford as a marketing vehicle, after car dealer Bob Tasca criticized the Ford Mustang. The new Lightweight version were specially designed for drag racing and were produced in Wimbledon White with a black interior.
This gold and black 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle has never been publicly offered and has always been in private hands. It was discovered in 2005 by Patrick Glen Nichols, the consigner, after it had been in the same hands since 1972. The car was #65 on the LS6 Registry out of the Atlanta plant. Nichols completed an extensive frame of restoration of the car in 2019.
Ford's bold re-introduction of the iconic GT40 in the early 2000s was not only a modern supercar, but also a faithful tribute to the original Le Mans-winning titan. Ford offered a special Heritage Paint Livery package for the 2006 GT. This $13,000 package recreated the famous color scheme of the John Wyer Automotive/Gulf Oil-sponsored GT40, the Le Mans champion of 1968 and 1969. The package included roundels with customizable racing numbers, allowing owners to personalize their GT. With limited production of just 343 examples, the Heritage GT quickly became the most coveted variant, capturing the essence of its predecessor. This 2006 Ford GT Heritage has only 5.9 miles on it, one of the lowest mileages available.
The 1959 Chevrolet El Camino was introduced as a two-seat station wagon with a truck bed, as a response the Ford Ranchero. This model has a red exterior and gray interior and 348 CID V8 Engine with automatic transmission. It has undergone a factory-correct restoration with power steering and power brakes.
