The eleventh anniversary show of Concours of Elegance is swiftly arriving, and Gooding & Company bring spectacular offerings during its time. On September 1st, this globally renowned house brings to auction a multitude of vintage drives, Porsche’s automotive excellence taking center stage. Several of their highlights can be found below: be sure to peruse the rest before September arrives!
1964 Porsche 356 C Carrera 2 Cabriolet

Porsche’s Carrera 2 was first introduced in 1964, created to meet customer demand for four-cam Porsche automobiles with greater midrange power and torque. This particular beauty is one of only thirty C Carrera 2 Cabriolets built in Porsche’s history, and is of the rare late-production C-series, making it one of the most desirable of the 356s. Featuring a flat 4-cylinder engine, twin Solex 40PII-4 carburetors, and front and rear independent suspension with torsion bars, the Cabriolet has been restored in its original ivory over green leather, and retains its matching-numbers engine. Truly a masterpiece to behold.
1993 Porsche 964 Carrera RS 3.8

Considered the ultimate expression of the Porsche 964, this offering is one of the rarest and most desirable 911 variants extant. Introduced in 1989 as a more aerodynamic replacement for the G-series 911, the Carrera RS 3.8 was originally developed as a racing car, hand-built by Porsche’s racing department at Weissach-Flacht. Following the car’s wins at 24 Hours of Spa, Nürburgring 24 Hours, and Interlagos 1,000 Km, it quickly gained traction. Only 55 road-going versions of the 964 were built, however, and only twelve were in speed yellow. With this spectacular sale, you can be the proud owner of both. It’s a collector’s piece through and through.
1957 Porsche 356 A 1500 GS Carrera Coupe

The Carrera Coupe was, inarguably, one of the most important sports cars ever built. Introduced just after World War II, its design was so sound it needed only modest revisions until its replacement by the 911 in 1965. This offering is one of only 225 built over a four-year period, and is finished in the rather unusual color scheme of gold over beige. It boasts a Fuhrmann-designed Type 547/1 four-cam engine, twin Solex 40 PJJ carburetors, and independent suspension with torsion bars and shock absorbers; the Fuhrmann engine alone makes this among the most desirable of the 356 variants. And with its competing in the 2011 1000 Miglia Storica? It is a wonderful car to add to your collection.
2012 Porsche 911 Club Coupe

This Coupe is a legacy car. Sixty years after the first Porsche Club was founded, thirteen cars were built to honor the original thirteen members; thirteen of the current membership, currently over 240,000, won their Coupes via highly competitive lottery. This beauty is not only one of those rarities, but one of only two built in right-hand drive. Fitted with an X51 Powerkit engine, and finished in the unorderable Family Green, this Coupe is likely the rarest 911 production variant ever built. It would be an honor to own one.
