Marc Chagall's Le Concert was painted in 1957, depicting a couple traveling down a river in a boat with the Eiffel Tower in the distance with musicians surrounding the edges of the work. A color lithograph of a slightly different version of the 1957 painting is offered in this sale. The masterpiece is signed by Chagall in pencil and framed.
Another important artwork is The Woodcarver's Shop by David Gilmour Blythe. The self-taught American artist often portrayed satirical subjects, especially showing young children as self-sufficient and intelligent beyond their years. Although his work was not well known during his lifetime, his paintings are now found in some of the top American museums, including the Met and the Smithsonian American Art Museum.
A real family treasure is this rare Southern silver tea service from the 19th century. Family history believes that the Hayden Brothers service was probably ordered by Kerr Boyce (1787-1854) for his son James Pettigru Boyce and his wife Elizabeth Llewellen Ficklen. Hayden Brothers was silversmith company based in Charleston, South Carolina active from 1852-55. The four-piece set is decorated with repousse chase floral design and openwork stands and is engraved.
From the poperty of a Southern lady whose life dates 1871-1959 comes this Tiffany Studios 'Ginkgo Berry' table lamp from the early 20th century. It boasts an intricate patinated bronze design and the base is marked Tiffany Studios, New York.
