On January 14, Hess Fine Auctions will present a wondrous auction of watches, jewelry and art, featuring shimmering silver, glittering gold, dazzling diamonds and gorgeous gemstones. Included in this auction is the estate of Hollywood actress Nina Lunn and four shipwreck coins certified from by Kane Fisher of the Mel Fisher family, who discovered the Atocha wreck on the west coast of Florida. This Mexican gold coin has been worn on the sides, and the date is obscure. This coin was retrieved from a shipwreck and comes to us certified by Kane Fisher, who has worked the shipwreck sites for his dad, Mel Fisher, for the 1715 Fleet.
We believe this piece to depict three likenesses of the goddess of victory, Nike, who is often shown holding wreaths of laurels, but the fourth goddess has not been identified. Jean Lucien Ferry is the French silversmith who created this monumental piece.

This cylinder phonograph horn includes several song cylinders with hit titles like Fading still Fading by the Knickerbocker Quartet, Celeste Aida, Santa Lucia Neapolitan Boat Song, O’er The Fresh Green Fields by Henri Scott, Anvil Chorus Il Trovatore, Comic Song, Waiting At The Church, Vaudeville Sketch, and a few others that we could not identify.

Here is a gorgeous painting by Bradshaw Crandell of Nina Lunn Black. Not only was Nina an actress, she was also a Washington DC socialite, a descendant of a senate majority leader and lived in Auld Brass, the South Carolina Frank Lloyd Wright house, later owned by movie producer Joel Silver.
Alice Barber born in 1928 in Charleston, Illinois, but spent much of her youth in South Florida as a remedy to childhood ailments. Her early works were in oils, but she eventually moved to watercolors. This vibrant piece is titled Porto de la Silva and dated 1960.
