Pink diamonds are incredibly rare and sought after, so it is no wonder that a ring like this makes headlines. On November 6, Phillips is holding The Geneva Jewels Auction: ONE, highlighted by a Fancy Intense Pink diamond ring with an asking price of CHF 10-15 million (about $11-16 million). Weighing 20.19 carats, the diamond is the most valuable ever presented by Phillips, and the fourth largest Fancy Intense Pink diamond ever offered at auction.
Pink diamonds belong to a category called colored diamonds. The colors can vary and the diamonds that are considered extra rare and valuable are pink, blue, red and green. Pink diamonds are believed to occur due to distortion in the diamond's crystal lattice, which is created by intense heat and great pressure after the stone's formation in the earth.

In addition to the rare pink diamond, colored diamonds such as a Fancy Intense Yellow diamond ring (54.27 ct), a Very Light Blue diamond ring (1.33 ct) and a Fancy Intense Blue diamond ring (0.72 carat) will also go on sale on November 6.

The Geneva Jewels Auction: ONE also offers earrings from French jeweler Sterlé studded with natural pearls and brilliant-cut and marquise-cut diamonds. Other exciting jewelry is the Van Cleef & Arpels Ballerina brooch with yellow sapphires and diamonds.

For the auction, Phillips has selected five contemporary designers, each of whom is represented by two pieces of jewelry that demonstrate their unique design and philosophy. Among them are Dries Criel's Lotus bangle and Maison Alix Dumas' Eternité d'Or gold ring.

The preview runs until the day of the auction at the Ritz-Carlton Hôtel de la Paix in Geneva, and the auction is held on November 6 at Hôtel La Réserve.
