The Turner Prize has been awarded since 1984 to a British artist (whether by birth or residence) who is under the age of 50 years and past winners include such contemporary superstars as Anish Kapoor, Tony Cragg and Damien Hirst.
For the first time in the history of this award, the four finalist artists of the 2019 Turner Prize asked the jury if they could be awarded together.
Let's meet them:
Lawrence Abu Hamdan
Lawrence Abu Hamdan is a Jordanian contemporary artist specializing in sounds that are transformed into audiovisual installations and audio files, making each work a spatial experience.
His Earwitness Theater exhibition and his After Sfx performance have earned him the 2019 Turner Prize.

His work can be seen at MoMA in New York and deals with organizations in defense of human rights, such as Amnesty International and Defense for Children International.
Helen Cammock
Helen Cammock is a multi-faceted British artist who works with moving images, photography, text, printing and performance.
Her film work The Long Note that celebrated the participation of women in the civil rights movement in Derry of 1968 has earned her the 2019 Turner Prize.

Her inspiration comes from the complex social stories of the marginalized of history. To give them a voice in front of the spectator of today, Cammock does not hesitate to explain the complex relationships that take place in the world and the connection that exists between the individual and society.
Oscar Murillo
Oscar Murillo is a Colombian artist who uses video, painting or sculpture to denounce the social and economic disparity of today's world.
His work Violent Amnesia has earned him the 2019 Turner Prize.
"I try to maintain a balance in my work between my desire to think primarily about creating images, texture, shape, etc., and this constant awareness of the world." ~Oscar Murillo
Migratio, globalization and social injustice are the recurring themes of Oscar Murillo's work. His most expensive work sold to date is a mixed technique untitled work made of debris, oil, acrylic, charcoal on canvas that sold for $285,000 at Phillips in 2013.
Tai Shani
Tai Shani is a British artist who also uses various media and media such as performance, film, photography, sculptures and the word to investigate forgotten stories and give voice to her subjects.
Her works DC: SEMIRAMIS and The Tetley, Leeds have earned him the 2019 Turner Prize.
