A year ago, on March 30, 2020, thieves broke into the Singer Laren Museum near Amsterdam and stole a painting by Vincent van Gogh. The painting, titled The Parsonage Garden at Nuenen in Spring, was painted in 1884 when Van Gogh moved back in with his parents, who at that time lived in the parish house in Neunen, Holland.

The police in Utrecht announced two days ago that they had arrested a 58-year-old man from Baarn in the Netherlands who was suspected of being involved in the theft. This robbery may also be related to another art theft that took place at the Museum Hofje van Mevrouw van Aerden, also in the Netherlands, in August 2020. A masterpiece by the Dutch baroque painter Frans Hals was stolen then for the third time.

It is not known whether there is a connection between the arrested person and the photo of the Van Gogh painting that was leaked to art detective Arthur Brand in June of last year. In the snapshot, the painting appeared between a New York Times copy dated May 30 and the book Meisterdief, the biography of a thief who stole two paintings from the Van Gogh Museum in 2002.
