Authorities have alerted anyone involved in the trade of art objects and antiques, asking them to pay the utmost attention to any piece, in case it could be among the artworks recently stolen from Tomasso Gallery in central London.

Ten beautiful – and easily identifiable works of art – were stolen during the night between September 21 and 22 from the well-known gallery located in St James’s. The works in question include a dead Christ in gilded bronze about 75-cm high by Ferdinando Tacca, and a 51-cm-high Roman bust of Sophocles.

Tomasso said he is working "closely with the police as their investigation continues”.

“Our intention is to make people aware of the safety and security of their own galleries and also to be on the look-out for the stolen artworks,” said a spokesperson for the gallery.

Founded in 1993 and specializing in European Sculpture, paintings by Great Masters and Ancient Art, the art gallery is internationally recognized for its particular expertise in European Renaissance bronzes. It has an office in Leeds and one in London and is managed by the brothers Dino and Raffaello Tomasso.
