There could hardly have been better news for the state of Saxony so shortly before Christmas: 31 individual objects and complete pieces of jewelry that had been stolen from the Green Vault of the Residenzschloss three years ago were recovered on the night of December 16. The public prosecutor's office and the police department announced in a press release that they would be secured on December 17 in Berlin. This positive development was preceded by a deal negotiated with the public prosecutor's office and the defense of the suspects, who are currently on trial.

In the early morning hours of November 25, 2019, two masked men smashed several showcases in the precious hall of the Green Vault in Dresden and stole several sets of historical diamond jewelry. The collection in the Green Vault founded by August the Strong is a world-class collection and forms the heart of the Saxon museum landscape.
The trail led the investigators to a Berlin crime clan, and between November 17, 2020 and August 19, 2021, six suspects were arrested.
