Jean (Hans) Arp (1887-1966) France

Jean Arp was a French sculptor, visual artist and poet. Arp attended the Ècole des Arts et Métiers in Strasbourg, and the Académie Julian in Paris. Jean Arp was a founder of the Dadaist movement in Zürich and among the avant-garde of the early twentieth century. He is also known for exhibiting work at the Galerie Der Sturm in Berlin with his friends Wassily Kandinsky, and Sonia and Robert Delaunay. Later, Arp joined the Surrealist movement. Arp’s sculptures are characterized by soft, rounded, organic large-scale shapes.
