Antoni Tapies was a Catalan painter, graphic artist and sculptor. In 1948 Tapies was instrumental in founding the group “Dau al Set” with a focus on art revolving around Surrealism and Dadaism. Tapies is known for his informal art, influenced by the works of Miro and Dubuffet. During the 1960s, his paintings moved in a more ascetic direction with an emphasis on structure and material effects, often using clay and marble dust.
On June 28 and 29, works by Monet, Renoir, Picasso and Rodin will hit the auction block at Tajan. Check out our guide to the upcoming auctions.
