Her works subtly and powerfully address topics such as beauty, love, sensuality, and feminine delicacy, always framed in enveloping, romantic, and refined atmospheres. With a vibrant and expressive aesthetic, Yamila Velázquez manages to fuse classical influences with a modern language, resulting in versatile, fresh, and deeply evocative works. This captivating sculpture represents the Annunciation, a fundamental biblical scene, in which the Blessed Virgin Mary and the Archangel Gabriel meet at a moment of divine revelation. The work stands out for its meticulous detailing in the garments and expressions, but what makes it truly unique is the integration of the Japanese technique Kintsugi. The cracks and fractures visible in the figures, accentuated with genuine gold, are not defects but scars of a past transformed, symbolizing beauty in imperfection and the resilience of the spirit. The Kintsugi in this piece elevates the narrative of the Annunciation to a reflection on grace and renewal, turning it into a deeply emotional and visually impactful work of art.
