All auctions / Sculptures / Workshop of Gustave Fontaine (Etterbeek, 1877 – Brussels, 1952) -

Descriptio Plaster. Dimensions: 39 × 25 × 27 cm. Sculptural study from the workshop of Gustave Fontaine, created as an academic model or working piece. The female head is characterized by sensitive and balanced modeling, with a soft treatment of volumes and particular attention to expression and the anatomical structure of the face. This type of work served as a formative exercise and reference in the sculptor’s creative process, and constitutes a representative testimony to the teaching and practice of sculpture in Belgium during the first half of the 20th century. Lot in international warehouse (within the EU). Intra-EU shipping: no import duties apply within the EU. An export permit from the country of origin may be required. Due to its age and history of use, this lot may show signs of wear and previous interventions. Unless explicitly stated otherwise, no specialized technical testing has been performed. The absence of any mention of restorations does not guarantee that none exist. You may request additional information before placing a bid. This does not affect the buyer’s statutory rights.
