Rawlings racket, Tie Breaker model. Used by John Newcombe during the 1973–74 seasons. It is one of the first top-level metal rackets to be associated with a Grand Slam winner. This racket was donated by the player and comes from the personal collection of Michel Mattei, director, screenwriter and producer of the documentaries *The Rites of Passage: The John McEnroe Story* (1981) and *The Pat Cash Story: No Second Prize* (1987). A tennis enthusiast, over the course of several decades he has built up an exceptional collection of more than 1,500 rackets, thanks to his close ties with many of the sport’s legends, notably John McEnroe and Pat Cash.
