This captivating oil on canvas composition stands out for its notable figurative elegance and a sober mastery of chiaroscuro, presenting a foreground portrait of a young woman with an Oriental aesthetic and a serene and introspective gaze. The work masterfully plays with symmetry and framing through two traditional fans: an upper one in vibrant red adorned with golden floral motifs that frames the face, and another at the bottom in dark purples that adds mystery and depth. The strong contrast between the emerald green background, the deep blue attire, and the delicate Lycoris radiata flower (red spider lily) intertwined in her hair enhances the poetic atmosphere, enveloping the piece in a halo of elegance, restrained sensuality, and rich cultural tradition.
