David Law - Magic Clouds - The Octopus

Series: Magic Clouds David Law Photographer Artist – Creator of contemporary images Multidisciplinary photographer artist, author and musician, David Law develops work centered on gaze, presence and the perception of the image in urban space. He first made a name for himself with a series devoted to shop-window mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence gave birth to an art book published in 2021. Intrigued by the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he extended this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate models acquire a troubling, almost living presence, questioning our relationship to illusion and projection. New Series – Magic Clouds Magic Clouds is an invitation to rediscover that childhood game of looking at the sky and recognizing animals or imaginary creatures in the clouds. Each image is built from a photograph of the sky and clouds, whose natural shapes gradually suggest a presence. The artist intercedes with a minimalist touch: a few small black dots placed where the eyes would be are enough to give birth to a gaze and reveal the animal. A series where chance, imagination and poetry meet. Edition & Production Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 copies numbered + 4 artist’s proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. The prints are made on aluminum with a built-in rear mounting. Printed on luminous white vinyl, mounted between two aluminum plates, with soft UV- and humidity-resistant lamination, ensuring excellent durability, long-term color stability, and a modern, contemporary look. Career Since 2014, David Law has participated in about twenty contemporary art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. Parallel to his visual work, he develops an author’s practice and a musician’s career including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a comic book, a photo book, and 5 self-produced CDs. A singer-guitarist, he currently performs with the band FRENZY.
