Raoul Dufy (1877-1953) France

Raoul Dufy was a French artist who grew up in Le Havre. As a child, he met Georges Braque and Othon Friesz. Dufy studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. Influenced by Matisse, just after the turn of the century Dufy began creating Fauvist paintings, with bright colours and bold contours. Throughout his career, he worked with oil paintings, watercolours, textiles, lithographs and woodcuts. He became part of the Les Fauves collective.
