Oswald Achenbach was a German landscape painter from Düsseldorf. He studied at the city’s academy and already in the 1850s, he was known for his paintings, with their striking lighting effects and skillful execution. He primarily painted images of small Italian towns, beaches and villas. Today, Achenbach’s work can be seen in the major German galleries and in the US.
