Miriam Bäckström (1967-) Sweden

Miriam Bäckström is a Swedish artist and photographer who studied at the University College of Arts, Crafts & Design in Stockholm from 1994 to 1998. Her works often feature staged and choreographed situations and events that appear to be somewhere between fiction and reality. One of Miriam Bäckström’s first pieces was “Dödsbo” (Estate of a Deceased Person), in which she photographed the homes of those who had recently passed. In addition to questioning power structures, she regularly works with actors to address the issue of staged roles versus what is authentically human. 
Miriam Bäckström has shown at spaces such as Lund Konsthall, and most recently at the Artipelag art gallery.
