Mårten Andersson is a Swedish artist who grew up in Bollnäs but currently lives in Stockholm. Andersson is best known for his oil paintings and graphic work created with a bold, colorful palette and motifs from folklore. His motifs are primarily folk-inspired, and most are from the peasant culture of Hälsingland. Andersson studied at the University College of Arts, Crafts & Design in Stockholm, as well as in Italy. His debut came in 1956 at Bollnäs Museum, and today, he is one of Sweden’s highest-paid living artists.
