Marie Andersson (1962-) Sweden

Marie Andersson was born in 1962 in Malmö. She studied at Grafikskolan Forum in Malmö from 1992 to 1995 and at the Malmö Art Academy from 1995 to 1997. Andersson is a photographer and primarily uses Polaroid film. Her interest in Polaroid images is mainly due to the fact that the camera takes a picture and develops it on-site, which allows her to focus on the subject and capture the right feeling, depth, and spatiality in the image. Architecture and spaces that can be perceived as both public and private, such as museums, churchyards, and parks, also commonly occur in her work. Marie Andersson has had numerous exhibitions, both group and solo shows, in Sweden and internationally. In 2008, she received the Hasselblad Foundation’s stipend to Grez-sur-Loing, France. Marie Andersson’s work can be found at Moderna Museet, Gävleborgs Konstmuseum and the Gothenburg Museum of Art.
