Lars Lerin is a Swedish artist who is primarily known for his watercolors. He studied at the Gerlesborg School of Fine Art from 1974 to 1975, and at the Valand School of Fine Arts in Gothenburg from 1980 to 1984. He paints portraits, but he is best known for his landscapes. His subjects span the globe, from Iran and India to the forests of his home in Värmland. Lerin often plays with light and shadow on deserted farmhouses and in industrial settings. His rendering of light piercing through shadowy mists may be why he is called a light painter. In addition to watercolors, Lerin works with oils, collage, installations and graphic works. He has exhibited work in several group and solo shows around the world. Sandgrund in Karlstad has been the permanent gallery for Lerin’s work since 2012. He is also a writer. His first book debuted in 1989, and he has published several books with his own illustrations since then.
