Jenny Källman (1973-) Sweden

Jenny Källman is a Swedish photographer who studied at the University College of Arts, Crafts & Design in Stockholm and at the School of Photography and Film at the University of Gothenburg.
Källman’s photography captures youth in a poetic, sometimes gruesome way. Her images often depict teenagers, providing a sense of various power relationships. Her subjects are often aged somewhere between childhood and adulthood, creating a sense of tug-of-war that is at once internal and external.
Källman also works with reflections in water, mirrors and windows, symbolizing representation and identity. Källman’s photography moves between staged and documentary-style. It can occasionally be hard to determine whether or not the people in her photos chose to be there.
Since 1997, Källman has had several exhibitions in Sweden, but also in Paris, Copenhagen and Berlin.
