Georg von Rosen (1843-1923) Sweden

Georg von Rosen was a Swedish artist who practiced an academic approach to his painting. Von Rosen mainly painted historic scenes and portraits. He was a professor and later a director at the Royal Swedish Academy of Fine Arts. In his role as director of the Royal Academy, von Rosen came into conflict with the new generation of artists, known as the Opponents, who demanded educational reform at the Academy.
