Enrico Baj (1924-2003) Italy

Enrico Baj from Italy was one of the pioneers of the avant-garde movement of the 1950s and 1960s, where his art was influenced by Dadaism and Surrealism. He created drawings, oil paintings, sculptures, collages and objects in which Baj developed unique, almost grotesque, figurative motifs. Baj was inspired by and communicated with several other prominent avant-gardists such as Marcel Duchamp, Max Ernst, and Yves Klein.
His work has been represented at many of the major museums ever since he participated in the Venice Biennale in 1964.
