Domenichino (1581-1641) Italy

Domenichino, or his birth name Domenico Zampieri, was an Italian painter born in Naples but active in Rome. Domenichino started off as a student under Denis Calvaert and later on also under Annibale Carracci. As a student, he worked on the decoration of Palazzo Farnese in Rome, but soon worked as a professional artist and finished a great amount of frescos in Rome. Domenichino became the leading front figure for the School of Bologna and also as an architect for the Vatican from 1621.
