Catalogue of the Ornament Engraving Collection Berlin 1775. - Second edition, first published in 1607. - 'The venerable University of Padua, where Galileo worked around 1600, contributed more than any other in Italy to research in the field of mechanics and was thus the ideal background for the creation of a book on machines. Zonca worked on his 'Novo teatro ...' at the same time as Fausto Veranzio ... Apparently, the work met with considerable and lasting interest and, with its four editions, is among the most widely distributed and successful books on machinery ... [it] is characterized by a close connection to the technology currently in use at the time; for example, it includes lock systems ... a printing press and, above all, significantly more illustrations of textile technology than any other book on machinery ...'
