About the artist: Yamila Velázquez (Las Tunas, Cuba, 1993) is a contemporary artist who uses digital intelligence tools; she currently lives and works in the city of Alicante, Spain. This young Cuban talent has established herself in the field of digital art, using contemporary media to explore themes related to nature, landscape and the intimate relationship between women and their surroundings. Her works gently and powerfully address themes such as beauty, love, sensuality and feminine delicacy, always framed in enveloping, romantic and refined atmospheres. With a vibrant and expressive aesthetics, Yamila Velázquez manages to fuse classical influences with a modern language, resulting in versatile, fresh and deeply evocative works. The pictorial texture of her images, the masterful use of color and the emotionally balanced composition position her work as a current artistic proposal of high aesthetic value. This work presents a frontal composition of great visual impact, featuring a black panther and a white leopard advancing in a dynamic symmetry. The piece stands out for the absolute contrast between their furs: the deep ebony of the panther against the ivory purity of the leopard, both united by a penetrating amber gaze that hypnotizes the viewer over a neutral, minimalist gray background. The technical brilliance of the piece lies in its interpretation of the Kintsugi technique (or “gold carpentry”). Instead of traditional fur patterns, the bodies of both felines are defined by a network of organic fractures filled with gold. In the panther, the golden veins emerge from the darkness like lightning in the night, while in the leopard, the gold acts as a light-shadow that structures its form, turning both animals into living porcelain-restored sculptures.
