Wool, the greenish tan field with repeating large-scale palmette and foliate motifs in rust red, the fringes hemmed under linen strips. 5 ft. 10 in. x 8 ft. 1 in. From the Collection of a Lady, Chapel Hill, North Carolina Woven Legends, whose weavings have been exhibited in galleries, museums, and showrooms throughout the world, has, since 1982, pioneered the use and cultivation of natural dyes, as well as re-establishing the hand spinning of indigenous nomadic wools in Turkey and elsewhere, heralding a return to traditions that existed before the Industrial Revolution, void of inexpensive, harsh colored synthetic dyes and machine processed yarns. Stabilization to selvages to underside; some natural knot pop ups; overall good estate condition.
