Wooden mask – Mbole – DR Congo This wooden mask is attributed to the artistic tradition of the Mbole, a people established mainly in the region of the middle Congo River valley, in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The sculpture is distinguished by a sober and stylized expression, carefully worked volumes, and a search for proportions that testify to the richness of the Mbole sculptors' know-how. By its singular presence, this piece illustrates the importance of wood sculpture in the artistic traditions of Central Africa. With its expressive silhouette and graphic aesthetic, this mask naturally fits into a collection of African art or into a contemporary interior. Its sculptural presence makes it a true focal point, creating an elegant dialogue between cultural heritage and contemporary aesthetics. A piece of character for collectors and enthusiasts of African art seeking an expressive and refined object.
