A major study devoted to Wols’s watercolors created between 1937 and 1951, a pivotal period in the development of his graphic and pictorial language. The book notably draws connections between his watercolors, drawings, and photographs, shedding light on the transition from the figurative and surrealist compositions of the 1930s to the informal abstraction of the postwar period. Texts in German. Richly illustrated. Some minor scuffs and dents on the corners of the hardcover, particularly at the bottom; interior is in good condition.
