SINGLE COPY INCLUDING A SIGNED AUTOGRAPH DEDICATION FROM THE AUTHOR on the title page: « To Dr. J. Max Eyland with comradely greetings from The Author ». Historical note: William Walter Crotch (1874-1947) was the cofounder and the very first president of the famous Dickens Fellowship in 1902. This work constitutes one of his major critical contributions to the study of Charles Dickens’s oeuvre and social philosophy. Published by Chapman & Hall, the historic and official publisher of Dickens, this copy enriched with a fraternal dedication by the author makes it a prized piece for any collector of Dickensiana. Condition: • Binding: Very good overall condition. The cloth is well preserved, spine toned evenly, gilding on the lettering crisp and bright. Light wear to the headcaps and corners. • Interior: Sporadic foxing throughout the interior, more pronounced on the half-title and title pages (no impact on readability of the text or of the dedication). Guards slightly warped at the hinges. Pages naturally browned, the upper edge browned. Copy is solid and sound.
