An exceptional antique inkwell, steeped in history and charm. This unique piece has been masterfully carved from an authentic horse hoof, transformed into an elegant desk accessory with refined sterling silver fittings. The inkwell, made in 1865 (the hallmarks confirm the authenticity and the Victorian era), by the renowned London silversmiths William Thomas Wright & Frederick Davies, features a fine finish that reproduces the horse’s hair, while a horseshoe, also in silver, adorns its base. The elegant lid reveals a removable glass insert for ink and bears an inscription: "In memory of Playmate aged 20" (In memory of Playmate, aged 20), a touching tribute to the beloved horse. The underside shows signs of wear compatible with its age, bearing witness to its long history and adding authenticity and character to this antique object. A relic for Victorian history enthusiasts that also celebrates the special bond between man and horse. Measurements: 13.5 cm x 10 cm x 6 cm. Weight: 475 g.
