William Shakespeare & F

Charming numbered and illustrated volume of this work which brings together a selection of major texts by William Shakespeare in an edition associated with François-Victor Hugo’s French translation or adaptation and enriched with compositions by Jean Gradassi, thus offering a meeting between Elizabethan theatre, French literature, and the art of modern illumination—the edition reveals the different facets of Shakespeare's dramatic genius through works where tragedy, comedy, history, passionate love, political ambition, jealousy, vengeance, madness, family rivalries, and questions about the human condition intersect—the great figures created by Shakespeare appear here as complex characters, subjected to inner conflicts and to circumstances that test their convictions, their feelings, and their relation to power—William Shakespeare & F.
