Where the Light Rested - Susan Wooler

Where the Light Rested by Susan Wooler Painting 47.2 x 31.5 :: Where the Light Rested is a commanding large-scale statement piece inspired by the fleeting spectral aftermath of a storm- the lingering shadow of a rainbow. Spanning a generous 120 x 80 cm the composition is anchored by a deep atmospheric backdrop of rich teal indigo and turquoise reminiscent of an encroaching twilight or a heavy moisture-laden sky. Emerging from this profound depth are fractured vibrant bursts of colour that mimic light breaking through a prism. Cascading vertical textures evoke the gentle movement of rainfall or clearing mist pulling the eye downward through layers of hidden luminescence. Painted on a premium 4.5 cm deep-edge canvas the artwork carries a striking sculptural presence on the wall. The deep edges allow the rich dark tones of the background to wrap seamlessly around the sides eliminating the need for a frame and drawing the viewer entirely into its immersive moody landscape. This piece serves as a poetic meditation on change capturing the exact quiet moment after a brilliant phenomenon fades and leaves its memory behind.
