A Rarity from the Philadelphia Suburbs Westville, New Jersey. $5 1902 Plain Back. Fr. 604. First NB. Charter #10430. PMG Very Fine 20. A suburb of Philadelphia located just across the Delaware River and to the south of Camden, Westville was incorporated in 1914 roughly a year after the First National Bank (Charter# 10430) had been organized in 1913. This institution managed to linger past 1935, but holds the distinction of having kept a minimal circulation that never exceeded $6,250. That distinction is reflected quite clearly in the population recorded by the National Bank Note Census which records a scant figure of only eight notes including this evenly circulated $5 Plain Back issued before 1924 which carries the signatures of Cashier Clarence Braddock Stackhouse and President E.H. Davis. Held together with a recent realization achieved for a T1 $20 which sold in our Spring 2026 Showcase Auction (Lot 6078) for $7,800, it takes little to reason that bidders have a truly rare opportunity for their consideration that allows one lucky collector the chance to represent or acquire another example of this excessively rare bank for themselves. PMG comments "Minor Repair." Estimate: $3,000 - $5,000. Click here for certification details from PMG.
