Weehawken, New Jersey. $5 1902 Plain Back. Fr. 609. Hamilton NB. Charter #12829. PMG Choice Very Fine 35. Best known as the locale where Alexander Hamilton lost his duel with Vice President Aaron Burr and subsequently died from the injuries he sustained during the duel. The Hamilton National Bank of Weehawken (Charter# 12829) capitalized on that infamous distinction as evidenced by this moderately circulated $5 Plain Back issued during the 1920s. Today notes from this charter are well-collected for obvious reasons and this example offers distinct stamped signatures attributable to Cashier S.K. Sullivan and President Alfred J. Curtain which should no doubt enthuse the collector looking to represent this somewhat morbid title in their own collection with a solid example that stands above the bulk of survivors recorded by the National Bank Note Census. Estimate: $1,000 - $1,500. Click here for certification details from PMG.
