Impressive oval mirror in carved wood with gold leaf gilding from the 19th century ad 1890 of evident European manufacture and more precisely Italian near Florence: The remarkable wooden sculpture topped by a splendid joyous cherub in the center of the wood appears visually in excellent condition, albeit with a patina of time. The finely crafted frame, carved and embellished with rich gold leaf gilding, presents a sumptuous decorative apparatus with a vegetal/floricultural motif, swirls and tendrils. The upper crest is dominated by the putto engaged in festive play, holding a floral wreath in his hands. Floral and foliate elements adorn the descending decorations of the crest. The lower part, instead, harmoniously resumes the decorative motif, creating balance between the upper decoration and the bottom of the frame. The frame is of notable quality and great visual impact also due to its size. The mirror appears suited to the frame, with workmanship tending towards a somewhat younger period.
