All auctions / Miscellaneous / Wall lamp - French-style two-armed wall sconce with glass shades - Bronze

This wall sconce is executed in a pronounced French historicizing style, with influences from the Louis XV / neorococo design. The central lion head, the ornamented urn, the asymmetrically curved arms with foliage and the flower-shaped, satin glass shades refer to decorative French wall lighting from the late 19th and early 20th century. Based on its construction, finish and electrical implementation, it is presumably a 20th-century decorative light object, manufactured in France or possibly Belgium, circa 1930. The lamp seems inspired by older gas wall lamps from the Belle Époque and Napoleon III periods, which were later often electrified. Similar French wall lamps combine cast metal or brass-colored metal fittings with matte/opalescent glass shades. Length 40 cm Width 45 cm Depth 15 cm Carefully packed and sent by registered mail.
