Title: Pair of 19th-Century French Fashion Prints with 3D Fabric Dresses – Signed Anaïs Toudouze & Huard (La Mode Illustrée & Le Moniteur de la Mode) – c. 1870-1880 Description: A beautiful and highly decorative pair of antique French fashion prints featuring unique 3D handmade fabric dresses. These mixed-media artworks are based on original 19th-century illustrations from two of France's most famous historic fashion magazines: "La Mode Illustrée" and "Le Moniteur de la Mode".Instead of a flat print, the dresses of the elegant ladies have been meticulously crafted out of real textiles—including silk, satin, lace, and velvet ribbons—giving the artwork a stunning three-dimensional shadow-box effect.The first print (La Mode Illustrée) features a stunning winter toilet designed by the Parisian couturière Madame Fladry (43 rue Richer, Paris). It is elegantly hand-signed in the plate by the world-renowned fashion illustrator Anaïs Toudouze (1822–1899) and the engraver Huard. The print was officially produced by the famous Parisian press Gilquin imp. Paris (Bureaux du Journal, 56 Rue Jacob, Paris). It shows two ladies in sophisticated gowns in rich shades of copper-brown and deep burgundy .The second print (Le Moniteur de la Mode) features two ladies in vibrant attire, showcasing a beautifully draped pastel green dress and a striking pink-and-black polka dot gown.Both prints are professionally housed in matching classic wooden frames with elegant gold trim, black accents, and protective glass. They are ready to hang and will add a touch of authentic Victorian/Belle Époque French elegance to any interior, boutique, or dressing room. Condition Report: in very good antique condition with characterful patina. The frames show some minor age-related wear, and the paper has a light, natural time-toning (yellowing) and minor foxing consistent with prints from the 1870s, which enhances their authentic vintage look.
