Visitors - Newel Hunter

Visitors by Newel Hunter Painting 20.0 x 16.0 :: Painted on an 16 x 20 x .25 inch canvas panel Visitors is a perfect example of Hunter’s uniquely expressive style -- which so often results in arresting images with a sense of depth and sculptural form. This painting features an abstract composition dominated by dark textured brushstrokes in black and gray tones punctuated by vivid red accents. The forms suggest a sense of verticality and movement with some areas showing a blending of colors that create a smoky or misty effect. The use of red introduces a striking contrast drawing the eye and adding emotional intensity to the piece. The overall texture is rough with visible streaks and variations in opacity contributing to a feeling of depth and complexity. The piece is compelling in its exploration of contrast and texture evoking a raw almost primal energy. The balance between the dark brooding areas and the energetic red highlights creates a powerful tension that holds your attention.
