Virgin in Prayer, Follower of Giovanni Battista Salvi da Sassoferrato

Descriptio Oil on canvas. A delicate depiction of the Virgin Mary in prayer and contemplation, inspired by the celebrated devotional models of Giovanni Battista Salvi da Sassoferrato. The figure gently inclines her head, clasping her hands in a pious gesture, enveloped in a white veil treated with exquisite subtlety of light. The dark background emphasizes the idealized purity of her face and the spiritual serenity of the composition. The softness of the flesh tones, the refined transition of light and shadow, and the careful modeling of the folds reflect the influence of Bolognese painting and 17th-century Italian classicism. The work conveys an intense atmosphere of silent contemplation through an elegant and refined aesthetic, conceived for intimate devotion and the exaltation of Marian spiritual beauty. Dimensions: 60 x 41 cm / 67 x 50 cm. Due to its age and history of use, this lot may show signs of wear and previous interventions.
