Vintage White Gold Ring with Colombian Emerald & Diamonds, c. 1970

Jardin, meaning garden - this is the poetic name given to the characteristic crystalline inclusion pattern of the emerald, as paths and branches seem to wind through its deep green like plants. Just like its color and cut, it is this inclusion pattern that distinguishes each emerald from another and makes the naturally grown stone unique. Here, such an intensely green gemstone has been set in a design that speaks the powerful and modernist design language of the period around 1970. The three-part ring shoulders strive dynamically towards the ring face, which frames the natural emerald in the middle of ten diamonds. The arrangement of the diamonds follows the shape of the unusual, transverse center stone. Typical of the time, the gemstones are set in white gold, which is restrained in terms of color and allows the effect of the gemstones to take precedence. The emerald has an intense, warm green color and weighs around 2.50 ct. It is a stone from Colombia, the best and classic origin for emeralds. The ten diamonds, which together weigh around 0.96 ct, all have a very good color (G-H), the larger diamonds are also very pure and all diamonds have a very good brilliance.
