Vintage Ear Studs With 1.17 ct Diamonds in White Gold, c. 2000

Some jewellery designs live on colourful splendour, others on the grand gesture. Jewellery of the 19th century is often modeled on nature, with blossoms and tendrils; cameo jewellery is perhaps even more a work of fine art than goldsmithing. But then there are also designs that are so reduced that they convince solely by the quality of a single gemstone. The ear studs here are such a case. One high-quality brilliant cut diamond each is set discreetly in white gold. With high brilliance and expressive fire, they need no further adornment, shining white and almost inclusion-free (vvsi). The settings transform the round diamonds into squares by holding the stones with four prongs. The workmanship is restrained, yet perfect. The diamonds hold securely and the bright metal shows off their white light to best advantage. But as with all the best jewels, their full beauty is revealed when worn: when in motion, the light gives the diamonds extra life. We have had an independent appraisal done which confirms the quality of the materials used. It will be delivered with the earrings.
