VIKING AGE SILVER RING WITH A BIRD

Ca. AD 700 - 1100. A silver ring with a broad D-section hoop supporting a rectangular bezel with rounded corners. Engraved on the face is a bird standing to the right, with its wing and tail feathers rendered by parallel incisions. Punched dots fill the surrounding field and continue around the perimeter of the bezel.
