Celestial bodies were among the most sought-after jewelry motifs in Victorian England. Whether crescent moons, suns or stars, they were all found on ladies' décolletés and blouses, in diamonds and silver for the evening and in pearls and gold for the day. This piece of jewellery features both: a small diamond flashes in the center of the shimmering rays of pearls and gold. The motif varies the classic star by giving the rays movement and dynamism. This shape is also known as a "sunburst" or "starburst". The pendant loop echoes the curved shape of the rays with great attention to detail. We discovered this luxurious piece in London. It can be worn as a pendant or brooch; the pendant loop can be unhooked for the latter purpose.
