atural Botryoidal Chrysocolla and Malachite from D.R. Congo This lot features a sculptural specimen of Chrysocolla in association with Malachite, from the renowned deposits of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The specimen has been worked and hand-polished in a freeform shape that follows and enhances the natural botryoidal concretions of the mineral, turning it into an object of pure natural art. Its aesthetics is a dialogue between geology and artistic sensibility, a piece that embodies the hidden beauty of the Earth. Direct observation reveals a universe of forms and colors. The surface, mirror-polished, displays a magnificent aggregation of globular and mammillated masses, typical of the botryoidal habit. The dominant color is an intense and vibrant turquoise-cyan, an unmistakable signature of high-quality Chrysocolla. Within these spheres complex orbicular designs develop, true mineral eyes with concentric bands that fade from cream white to the dark green of Malachite. This chromatic interaction creates incredible visual depth, heightened by the brilliance of the polish that gives the piece a nearly glassy luster. From a geological perspective, this specimen testifies to the processes that occur in the oxidation zones of copper deposits. Chrysocolla, a hydrated copper silicate, and Malachite, a copper carbonate, often form in association, precipitating from aqueous solutions rich in minerals within fractures and cavities of the rock. Botryoidal growth occurs layer by layer, and each color band represents a variation in the chemical-physical conditions of the formation environment, thus recording a micro-geological history. The provenance from the Democratic Republic of the Congo adds further collector value to the piece. This region is world-renowned for producing some of the most spectacular Chrysocolla and Malachite specimens, valued for the intensity of colors and the complexity of formations. This piece is no exception, representing an excellent example of the territory's mineral wealth. As a collectible object or decorative element, this mineral possesses undeniable stage presence. It is perfect to be placed in a contemporary Wunderkammer, displayed in a cabinet dedicated to natural history, or used as a focal point in a design setting, a professional studio, or a library. Its organic form and hypnotic colors make it a magnet for attention and a conversation piece, uniting scientific fascination with a refined aesthetic impact.
